I just did the math.
I am sure most of you have assets worth of at least $150,000. So if 300,000 are stuck in the backlog. This would mean if these guys leave this country, then that would be $45 trillion loss for USA.
Guys is there a way to get some media publicity of the possible loss of $45 trillion for USA due to US Immigration mess??

Yes, CA DMV takes quite a while to get clearance from DHS to validate your legal stay before they issue you DL.

It makes me laugh. Everyone screams and jumps up and down that they can't be part of a 750,000 person flood to USCIS.

In a weird way, I feel this is good news. An old saying in China says 'Things will turn to their opposite at their extremes'. The moment before dawn is the darkest hour of the day.
I agree. Since politicians have no incentives from helping our cause, it has to come to an extreme breaking point when USCIS/DOS or politicians take any action. I think we have reached that point and that will help in highlighting the mess we are in.

Never goto ICICI bank. Only crooks and criminals are working there. No ethics and only inhuman treatment. My friend took a home loan from this bank and he is suffering now.

Can you substantiate how he is suffering ? I also have a home loan through ICICI Bank and have been very happy so far. They have the best service amongst all banks in the country, and so they charge for it. Ultimately its a trade-off - you can decide whether you want to go cheap or require good service.
As some posters pointed out earlier, its extremely easy to apply for a home loan through ICICI Bank sitting here in the US. I dont know of any other Indian banks that would provide you the same level of convenience.

Just wanted to know your thoughts on this. CNN has launched the first ever cnn-youtube debate and the deadline to submit videos is 7/22.. Users have to basically upload their questions on youtube and some of these questions will be selected and democratic presidential candidates will have to answer these questions.
I know its kinda late, but why not upload videos on youtube asking questions about legal immigration to the candidates? i think it will be a great way of bringing out our problems further in the mainstream... if you think this is a good idea, we may have to act on it fast... we dont have much time.

According to the State Department, from October 1, 2006 through May 30, 2007, the USCIS requested and was authorized the total EB visa numbers of 66,426. Between June 1 and the first few days of July (?), the USCIS requested and was authorized over 60,000 EB visa numbers, in approximately one month. Since it has been made clear by the USCIS that during the last weekend of June (2 days) the USCIS approved 25,000 EB 485 applications, apparently over 40,000 visa numbers were requested and authorized before the weekend. Obviously the 60,000 plus cases must thus have been approved (?) in one month

I think this all boils down to them wanting to clear the 485 backlog without accepting any more 485s all while not wasting any visa numbers for this year.
In an effort to juggle all these issues, they screwed it all up.
Bottom line is they want to streamline the system such that they don't have "unapprovable" 485s in the system. They have caught on to the way the lawyers and us legal immigrants were filing 485s to get our foot in the door then sitting tight for eons. They simply don't want that. They either want you here on a temp. visa or on a green card straightforwardly. Thats what I am getting from all this.
