The H1B visa belongs, in effect, to the company that sponsors it. You cannot work for any other company on that visa other than sponsor. If this is a transfer, then, In a so-called "visa transfer" what actually happens is that the initial visa is cancelled in favor of another one issued for the new employer. What that means is OP's work with old employer is considered as "unauthorized work". Do not consider this as illegal presence, as his legal presence is controlled by a valid I-94.
This is incorrect (highlighted in Blue above). Just because new H-1B petition is approved, old I-797 is not canceled. Again, gapala, understand this, if old I-797 is not canceled, beneficiary is authorized to work for old employer for I-797 validity dates. Unless, Employer request to cancel H-1B petition, employee can come back to work for that employer even after starting working for Employer B.
Gapala - One more time, during the validity dates of I-797, employee working for old employer is not "unauthorized work". OP was authorized to work for "Employer 2".

It is one way to reduce the budget deficit, each of us will be burning away $700- every year per head for AP + EAD renewal with close to a million applicants go do the maths.
And AP/EAD renewal cannot start before 120 days so that time period every year for at least 3 years they are gonna laugh their guts out.
And we thought we achieved a big feat with the July fiasco ......

Now its our chance of how to get the opening bigger. We were successful by doing a flower campaign. We got to do more. The slot should be made more and more wider and should lead us to green card.

you are a great leader. Just concentrate on different ways to succeed. you have just found a way that does not work. My suggestion for you is plan smaller meeting call 5 members in a group and meet at a location explain them and give them the handouts and tell them to meet 5 more people and give you the report. I think this may work.

10/20 is fine with me. Another IV member vs116 has agreed to attend it along with me.
I would prefer - Troy, Rochester, Royal Oak , Sterling Heights, Madison Heights, Utica etc. as long as it's agreeable to the majority. I think we should go by majority of participants.
the problem will be meeting venues and times if we join illinois. we do have ton of H1 people here who are on same boat. Lets try to rally them in.....

Can someone confirm if you can maintain accounts in the US after you leave. That sounds very dumb. I want US to keep my money and they don't want it?
I understand that after Patriot Act you can't open accounts in US without SSN but I think you should be able to keep your account because that SSN is assigned to you forever.
Withdrawing funds from 401K before retirement is not a good idea. It is best to rollover the funds into an IRA at your bank.
By the way, after the Patriot act is passed, you can not maintain financial accounts in this country after you leave if you are on H-1B. Uncle Sam is afraid you will be financing Terrorists. Another sucker punch. Take it like a (wo)man. :D :D

These 3 members are from a different pool. IV gave us phone numbers of Michigan members registered at the site. We have been calling and E-mailing these members about tommorrows meet.
The response received has been encouraging. Lot of members who couldn't participate in the first meet, did volunteer to participate in the future meets and other activities. We have created enough buzz about chapter and reached out to a wider audience ( some even unaware of the thread here). Three members (different from the three prospective attendees above) have joined our current google group.
We are also running a Newsletter today to registered IV Michigan members. We aren't leaving any stone unturned to get maximum possible members to attend.

Well, I've got a few reasons.
1. I don't like the attitude that comes along with the people that speak it.
2. I just don't like the language.
3. I don't live anywhere close to a place where I must know Hindi to survive.
4. The Indian Constitution recognises English as a subsidiary official language.
5. If I have survived as long as I have without knowing Hindi, I'm sure I can survive without knowing Hindi for the rest of my life.

I filed I-140/I-485 April 22 and received receipt notices. No appointment letter for finger printing yet and no LUDs. Texas currently processing date is April 28 for EAD. Sould I be worried?
If you e-filed and no FP notice then you won't be getting EAD in 90 days.
The day you get FP notice from that at least two weeks after FP will be scheduled. After FP it takes 2 weeks to further processed (Card + approval).
Although USCIS says to contact after 90 days, you should think in terms of getting infopass.
Could anyone else provide some more input?

Something can happen if we have a Democrat Congress which is filibuster-proof, meaning > 60% of total membership must be Democrats, AND a Democrat President, then something good could happen for us. It might not be exactly what we like because "undocumented" will get the same as well, but atleast also get what we want.
Nothing good will happen for us if we have a Republican Congress and Republican President. They will just make life hard for all of us --legal or undocumented alike. If we are having a hard-time getting a Driver's License right now, then expect worse if this combination happens next year plus the continuing recession.
Republican Congress + Republican President + Recession = NIGHTMARE FOR IMMIGRANTS
They will put all the blame on us, which is already happening right now.

Update: In the subcommittee hearing tomorrow let us expect our issues raised. IV has successfully communicated issues of IV community to the subcommittee members. just called. lady was aware of the bill numbers. wrote down zip code and mentioned to contact local congressman. Also mentioned Rep smith hasn't yet taken any stand on these bills.
